Abstract
528,738. Shuttleless looms. WRIGHT & SONS, Ltd., M., and WILLIAMSON, W. March 31, 1939, No. 10185. [Class 142 (ii)] In a shuttleless loom the weft inserter 16 (or several of them) is attached to a slide 15 carried by the sley 10 and reciprocated by means of a lever 21 and a cam 29 fixed to the loom frame. This cam is shaped to give the weft inserter 16 a dwell at each end of its stroke. When the loop of weft wf has been passed through the shed as shown in Fig. 2, a finger 32 pivoted at 33 and operated by a cam and bowl 35, 36 from a sley 10 widens the loop as shown in Fig. 5 through which a shuttle 30 carrying the selvedge thread p then passes. As shown this shuttle is moved in vertical guides 38 by means of gear wheels 41, 42, one of which is always in gear with the shuttle. The loom may be adapted for simultaneously weaving several fabrics side by side or one above the other. The finger 32 may have a lateral movement in addition to that about the shaft 33. There may be a weft inserter and a shuttle on each side of the fabric. Specifications 7763/99, 10130/00, [both in Class 142], 12472/09, 214,607, [both in Class 142 (ii)], and 528,900 are referred to.
