Abstract
506,990. Looms with stationary weft supply; weft stop-motions. DEWAS, R. Sept. 29, 1938, No. 28332. Convention date, Oct. 30, 1937. [Classes 142 (i) and 142 (ii)] The several weft threads (only two a, b are shown) pass through guiding eyes 14, 15 arranged above the plane of the cloth, outside the selvedge, and at about two thirds of the travel of the slay on its rearward stroke. These eyes are carried by levers 7. operated by springs 10 and cams 9 on a shaft 12 driven by a chain and wheel 13 from the loom crank-shaft. The levers 7 are of various lengths &c. to prevent entanglement of the threads. The slay carries a hook 16 which may be fixed or, as shown, reciprocated vertically by a cam on the slay pivot. At the beat up the eye 14, 15 with the selected thread has been lowered to position 14<1> or 15<1> and this thread is caught by the hook 16 which brings it into correct position to be engaged by the weft inserter. The hook 16 frees the weft thread just before the next. beat-up and will engage the next chosen thread directly after the beat-up. The hook may serve as the grid of a weft stop motion.
