Abstract

455,240. Stop-motions for shuttleless looms. WOODWARD, GROSVENOR, & CO., Ltd., THOMPSON, F. C., and CHAMBERLAIN, G. P., Worcester Cross, Kidderminster. April 18, 1935, No. 12090. [Class 142 (i)] A shuttleless loom is stopped when a weft inserting needle 20 is left in the shed during the beat-up by causing the improperly positioned needle to engage a vertically movable feeler member 19 and thereby position the free end 10 of a lever 6 in the path of a bracket 9 on the advancing lay. The lever 6 is carried by a crank 5 on the stop shaft 4 and has its free end slidably mounted in a feeler supporting lever 12 which is rocked by a spring link connection 22, 28 from a cam operated lever 23 so as to move the lever 6 into and out of engagement with the bracket 9 during the backward and forward movements of the lay. The lever 6 is made in two parts so that its effective length can be adjusted. The cam 25 controlling the lever 23 is mounted on the shaft which operates the needle driving gear.
