Abstract
509,209. Shuttleless looms. DEWAS, R. Sept. 29, 1938, No. 28331. Convention date, Oct. 30, 1937. [Class 142 (ii)] Selvedges, forming.-In a loom in which weft from large fixed bobbins is inserted by devices such as the needles described in Specification 442,206 and the cut ends of the weft are bent into the shed, as each weft end is being so bent in, the selvedge threads a of one of the divided warp sheets are pressed towards the selvedge threads b of the other sheet, the outer threads being depressed first and to a greater extent than the others to grip the weft thread end as it is being bent in. As shown, this is effected by a presser 1 having a foot with an inclined base 1a and pivoted at 5 to the temple support 7 so as to move in a vertical plane. The presser has a lifting arm 12 to be engaged by the slay at beat up and a spring 10 for depressing it. The presser may be mounted on a slightly inclined shaft or on a vertical one.
