Abstract

406,467. Reed and lay controlling mechanism for looms. DUPLAN SILK CORPORATION, 1450, Broadway, New York, U.S.A. Feb. 6, 1933, No. 3592. Convention date, July 30, 1932. [Class 142 (iii).] To permit adjustment of the reed or the lay, whilst the loom is inoperative, after an alteration in position of the fell of the cloth due to lost picks, pick-outs or shrinkage or stretching of the warp, the crank connecting rod 22 is connected to a pin 25 having two eccentric portions 26 rotatably mounted in the lay sword. Rotation of the pin 25 by means of a lever 27 causes the reed or the lay to be moved through a predetermined number of picks or a fraction of a pick, the lever 27 being provided with a spring pressed pin 35 for engagement with any one of a plurality of holes 31 in an indicating plate 30 which may be provided with a scale to indicate the number of picks or the fraction of a pick corresponding to the distance between two holes 31.
