Abstract
552,429. Shuttleless looms. ASSOCIATED WEAVERS, Ltd., SEWELL, H. R., and HARWOOD, G. W. Oct. 3, 1941, No. 12771. [Class 142 (ii)] A needle loom for use in weaving fabrics having textile fibres or yarn and metallic wire in both warp and weft has the bobbin 1 carrying the wire weft 2 mounted upon the moving part of the needle mechanism so that as the needle 10 carries the wire weft through the shed the bobbin follows the needle and reduces strain on the wire. A spring 5 adjustable by a nut 6 presses upon the bobbin 1 to tension the wire, or alternatively a felt or like washer may be arranged beneath the bobbin. A pivotally mounted hook 14 is provided upon the fixed loom frame 15 adjacent the fabric selvedge and engages the wefts 2, 12 as the needle enters and withdraws from the shed and ensures a clean selvedge. The sley 18 in beating up forces the weft off the hook 14 which thereafter falls to engage the next wefts.
