Abstract

430,239. Looms. PHILY, F., 80, Rue de SÞze, Lyons, France. Oct. 11, 1933, No. 28004. Convention date, Oct. 11, 1932. [Class 142 (ii)] Goods of exceptional character, looms specially designed for ; vertical looms.-In looms for weaving wherein a weft thread is passed through a row of loops, each comprising one or more warp threads, the loop-forming work bar 9 is guided around stationary warp yarn guides 31 by a fixed cam 10 which co-operates with a stud 10<11> on the work bar supporting member 8, the latter being pivotally mounted on a reed bar 6 that is rocked by grooved cams 5. The loom is operated electrically under control of shuttle-, warp- and weft-feeler mechanism and the cloth beam 39 is driven by connections 60, 61 from the reed bar 6. Specifications 207,528, 243,340, and 243,341, [all in Class 142 (ii)], are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the following subjectmatter : Letting-off warps ; take-up motions.-The warp beam may be braked by a band that is resiliently anchored at one end or it may be driven by pawl and ratchet mechanism operated by a Jacquard. The cloth beam 39, Fig. 18 (Cancelled), is driven by a pawl 67 on a loose wheel 65 which is oscillated by springs 63, 60 connected to the loom frame and the reed bar respectively. Temples.-A roller having grooves or a felt or canvas covering and conical end portions is provided on the reed bar for guiding the fabric and tensioning the selvedges. Weft supplying etc.; weft inserters, construction and operation.-The weft is drawn from stationary supplies, passed through tensioning devices and led to weft drawing devices which, with the aid of a Jacquard, present the appropriate thread to a dummy shuttle 19, Fig. 13 (Cancelled). The shuttle is provided with a hook at each end for engaging the weft and is propelled across the loom by rotary picking hammers 47, driven by electric motors, 17, 18, the operation of the pickers being controlled by an alternative distributer. Means are provided for engaging the shuttle feelers during the laying of the pick to prevent interruption of the current. The method of starting, stopping and reversing the loom is also described. The above subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
