Abstract

694,957. Shuttleless looms; shedding mechanism. DRAPER CORPORATION. April 3, 1950 [Aug. 26, 1949], No. 8268/50. Classes 142(i) and 142(ii) To prevent the weft fork from producing a stripe of slack weft in a fabric having picks cut to length, the shedding cams are shaped to first bring the upper warp sheet close to the pick, movement of the lower warp sheet being delayed until the weft inserter has nearly left the shed, the crossing of the shed then occurring quickly to lock the pick before its cut end is released. The invention is described as applied to the loom of Specification 693,485 in which weft is transferred from one to the other of two weft inserters meeting at the middle of the shed. U.S.A. Specification 2,455,263 is referred to for details of a negative over-motion for raising the heald shafts. Tappets. A hub 64 having integral tappets 62, 63 is located on a tappet shaft 65 by a nut 65a and keyed to a gear 66.
