553,543. Loom shedding-mechanism. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Nov. 21, 1941, No. 14977. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1940. [Classes 142 (i) and 142 (ii)] In weaving closely woven fabrics, the groups la, 1b of warp threads moving alternately to form the shed cross at a point 8 between the mid position and one extreme position of the shaft lift. During beating up, which follows the time of the crossing of the warp threads, the tension of one group 1b is greater than that of the other group 1a which at this time are towards the middle of the shed. The warp threads passing from the back rail 2 to the fabric 4 are preferably in a single plane when the corresponding shafts are in their mid position. The shedding motion is obtained 'from cams 20, 21 operating upon rollers 18 mounted upon levers 16 pivotally mounted upon a stud carried by levers 22. The levers carry rollers engaging cams 29, 29a so that additional movement is imparted to the levers 16 and shaft rods 30. The amount of additional movement can be varied by adjusting the levers 22 about their points 24 of mounting.
