Abstract

808,084. Loom shedding mechanism. MARITANO, W. July 12, 1956 [July 12, 1955], No. 21635/56. Class 142(2) A lens fabric, which may be of hemp, jute, or wire, is produced on a loom having only two heald frames S, I, each frame moving transversely to s'hog the warp threads and also moving vertically to form the shed. The warp threads pass through eyes in needles 5s, 5i mounted in each frame. The frames are moved transversely by guides 10, 11 engaging the sides of the frames and actuated by a rod 14 and a rocker 8. The left and right hand rockers are connected together by the heald frames and move in conjuction with each other. The rod 14 may be operated by cams on the shaft that effects vertical movement of the frames. The rod 14 could be arranged vertically. The frames are connected together so that their vertical movements are synchronized. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 10) only one frame is moved transversely, this movement being effected by a rod 14, an arm 15 and a guide 10. An arm 15 at the other side of the frame is similarly operated or may be connected to the first arm. Alternatively provision could be made for maintaining the second guide against the frame.
