Class 124(2) A narrow web loom is provided with a longitudinally reciprocable needle 20, 22 at each side of the web, each needle having an eye 24 near its free end for a weft yarn, and a transversely movable weft-projecting finger 40, 42 at each side of the web, each finger having a forked end 48 to pick up a loop of weft yarn from the needle at the same side and to project the loop through the shed to the needle at the remote side. To provide for the formation of a locked selvedge means are provided for operating the needles and the fingers in timed relatinship so that each needle is moved to project its weft loop through the loop projected by the opposite finger before that finger is retracted from the shed. To provide sufficient yarn free of tension for the loops formed by the fingers and to tension the yarns when the fingers and needles are retracted, the yarn to each needle in its passage from the supply is led around a pulley and through eyes in take-up members 56, 54. The member 54 comprises an upright arm mounted to swing forwards and rearwards along the edge of the web. and the member 56 is an arm arranged to rock in a horizontal plane.
