Abstract
198,750. Blake, E. G. March 4, 1922. Two-stroke-cycle engines. - Extra-air valves which are placed at the top of the transfer passage from the crank case comprise a cup with a tapered spigot 2 and carrying a spring- pressed non-return valve 11. The cap has a cover with inlet holes 9 which are controllable either by a sleeve 16 or by a Bowden-actuated plunger within the cover. The air admitted enters the cylinders in front of the charge compressed in the crank case, and may be sufficient to dilute the charge as well as scavenge the cylinder.
