Starting, facilitating.-To facilitate starting, a rotary or other exhauster has its outlet delivery pipe connected to the inlet suction pipe 4 fitted with an auxiliary valve 5. At starting, the inlet valve 2 and the outlet valve 3 are shut and the auxiliary valve 5 is open; the exhauster is run up to speed and the outlet valve 3 is opened; the speed is regulated to requirements; the inlet valve 2 is opened and the auxiliary valve 5 is closed.
