Casings; regulating or controlling.-A centrifugal blower with radial blades for supplying scavenging charging air to Deisel engines is coupled directly to the engine that is adapted to drive ahead or reverse and is provided with an inlet arrangement capable of being reversed for this alternative drive, suitable outlet arrangements also being provided. The suction casing 2, Fig. 2, of the blower is provided with a flap 4 pivoted at 5 whereby the air is directed to the fan blades in a left-hand or right-hand spiral recording to the direction of rotation of the blower. The pressure passage 7, Fig. 4, is formed in a casing concentric with the blower 1, and at the outlet a pivoted flap 9 is placed to be moved to one side or the other, according to the direction of rotation of the blower. The diffuser 8 may also be bounded by pivoted flaps 6, Fig. 3, adjusted in a similar manner. The reversal of these pivoted members 4, 6, 9 may be effected by hand, or by means coupled directly to the reversing member of the Deisel engine. The control may also be effected automatically.
