Abstract

1,249,093. Centrifugal blowers. WEBASTOWERK, G.m.b.H. Feb.19, 1970 [April 21, 1969], No. 8042/70. Heading F1C. [Also in Division F4] A device for delivering gaseous media comprises a reversible electric motor 11 driving a blower wheel 12 providing a unidirectional delivery irrespective of the direction rotation, but adapted to provide different outputs according to the direction of rotation, and an annular delivery duct 26 communicating with the blower wheel outlet and extending coaxially with the electric motor. Air supplied by the blower wheel 12 through the duct 26 is heated by combustion gases flowing through a coaxial duct 28 from a combustion chamber 27. Fuel and air for the combustion are supplied by a fuel pump 14 and an air blower wheel 13 driven by the motor 11. The pump 14 delivers the fuel to a rotary atomizer 16. When the heater is to be shut down, it is cooled off by the blower wheels 12, 13. For this purpose, the permanent magnet motor 11 is reversed by means of a polarityreversal switch 18 which also brings a thermal switch 23 into circuit. The blower wheels 12, 13, which are designed for the normal direction of rotation, produce a reduced output during the reversed running, while the reversed delivery of the fuel pump 14 is stopped by a check valve 25. When the heater has cooled off sufficiently the thermal switch 23 stops the motor 11. The combustion air blower wheel may be driven by a separate motor which is not reversed during the cooling-off period, both motors being-stopped by a single thermal switch. The check valve 25 may be omitted, the fuel pump or its driving means then being such that delivery does not occur on reversal of rotation.
