Abstract
195,438. Balanced Engine Syndicate, Ltd., and Kerr, R. P. Dec. 22, 1921. Actuating pumps by fluid-pressure motors.-A vertical engine A with a two-throw crank drives two or two sets of air pumps P, Q, one on each side of the engine, the connecting-rods of the pumps being attached to the engine crank, one to each crank pin. The pump connecting-rods are inside of the engine rods, being next to the web between the two crank pins. The engine may be a steam engine, but, as shown, it is an internal-combustion engine having oppositely moving pistons in each cylinder, the upper and lower pistons of adjacent cylinders being connected by coupling rods.
