Abstract
499,964. Liquid - pressure engines. WATTS, R. E., DUNCAN, V. G., and PETERSON, J. M. June 30, 1937, No. 18243. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXVI, XXIV, XXVII, and XXVIII] An engine pump or compressor comprises coaxial pistons 6, 7 each having an inclined pin 13 connected to a parallel inclined crank-pin 3 or 4 on a shaft arranged with its axis parallel to that of the pistons. Each connecting member may be of variable length and may comprise two members 14, 15 rotatable about the crank and piston pins respectively and pivoted together about an axis parallel with the said pins. A number of cylinders may be arranged around the crank-shaft and a series of pistons may be arranged in each cylinder, working spaces being provided at 8 between the pistons and at 9, 10 at the ends of the cylinders.
