Abstract

193,673. Cameron, W. Feb. 22, 1922. Two-stroke-cycle engines; driving-gear. - Engines having oppositely moving pistons in each cylinder are constructed with two pairs of cylinders having their axes in two planes at right angles to the common crank shaft 15, the pistons working on two crank pins arranged at 180‹ to one another. The lower pistons 5, 6 of one pair drive one of the pins through a triangular connecting rod 42, the other lower piston pair being similarly connected to the other crank pin. Thelower pistons in each pair are connected by sidethe rods such as 29-32 to the upper piston in the other pair. Radius rods 42<*>, 43 are provided to take the side thrust in the connecting rods. Terminal inlet and exhaust ports 44-47 are controlled by the pistcns.
