Abstract
193,254. Chernikeeff, B. Feb. 1, 1922. Logs.-The casing of a submerged log rotator of the type described in Specification 177,187 is provided with detachable parts 5, 6 adapted, when assembled, to be drawn together and interlocked for the purpose of extruding excess oil under pressure, thus ensuring the exclusion of all air. The part 5 carries a plate 7 formed with a threaded extension 8 with which engages a threaded bore on the part 6. The plate 7 is formed with a long sleeve bearing for the rotator shaft 10, this sleeve being provided with recesses 11 into which the oil passes to form seals. A ball thrust bearing 12 for the shaft is accommodated in a recess in the plate 7 and is adjustable by a screw 13. The part 6 is formed with a cylindrical portion 9 fitting a corresponding bore in the casing 1. The shafts 16, 18 of the transmission gear are supported in bearings carried by the plate 7. The conductor 23 leading to the indicating or recording apparatus passes into the casing through a tubular passage fitted at its inner end with an insulating bush 24 and filled in at its outer end with melted resin 25 which sets hard.
