Abstract

192,971. Day, C., April 25, 1922. Leakage, preventing; spindles. -Leakage of injecticn air from a fuel-spraying device for an internal-combustion engine is prevented by forming the valve stem in two parts, the upper part A<2> having a valve portion E which prevents leakage in the intervals between successive injections when the valve is seated. The joint between the upper portion and the lower part A<1>, is such as to allow a slight degree of relative movement of the two parts both laterally. According to a modified construction, the injection valve may open towards the combustion chamber in which case the outer member acts as a tappet to open the injection valve, the two portions being entirely disconnected from each other.
