Abstract

9622. White, J. P. July 1. Fixed-abutment type; packing drums, vanes, etc.; working-fluid supply. - In a rotary internal-combustion engine of the oscillating- vane type working, on the four-stroke cycle, the rotor carries two vanes C co-operating with fixed abutments B, B<1>, in which the inlet and outlet passages B<3> are formed. The passages B<3> in each abutment lead to separate valve chambers having each an inlet valve D and an exhaust valve E operated by a cam shaft L driven from the main shaft K, which is itself driven from the rotor crank H by a rod J and crank K<1>. Packing-strips B<2>, C<3>, C<4>, C<5> are provided for the abutments, vanes, and drum. The cylinder is cooled by a water jacket A<1>, and the drum and vanes are also watercooled. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 8342/99, 22,138/00, and 15,944/07.
