Abstract
3376. Sweetzer, D. J., and Urry, G. Feb. 10. Fixed-abutment type; working-fluid supply; packing vanes.-In a rotary internal-combustion engine of the fixed-abutment type having outwardly-sliding vanes, the vanes M, carried by a drum B, are fitted with spring-pressed packing-pieces Q, and are held against the periphery I of the casing by cam-grooves O in one or both end-covers engaging rollers P secured to the vanes. The charge is drawn into a chamber K through a port G, and is delivered through valve-controlled ports T into a combustion chamber D. A valve E, operated by gearwheels Y, Z from the piston shaft C, admits the compressed charge to a chamber J, where the combustion is effected by a sparking-plug X, exhaust taking place through a port H. A water-jacket C<1> is provided, and the magneto is actuated by a gear-wheel B' meshing with the wheel Z.
