Floors of reinforced-concrete girders side by side; roofs; reinforced-concrete girders.- Floors and roofs are formed of beams laid side by side and made of reinforced concrete, terracotta, or like moulded material and of I section with thin extensions d to the flanges, so that the beams may be readily cut to fit an irregular floor &c. The beams have solid ends e, which may be perforated for the passage of pipes, wires, &c., and the compression flange is made sufficiently large to need no reinforcement. Nailing strips or plugs f, g of breeze-concrete or like material are placed in the beam during or after manufacture, and channels may be provided at the ends of both flanges for continuity bars.
