Abstract

16,922. Rheinische Metallwaaren und Maschinenfabrik. Dec. 5, 1913, [Convention date]. Breech actions, sliding barrel and breechblock.-Relates to a gun with a recoiling barrel and interrupted - screw breech action, and provided with a device for enabling the breech to be opened by hand without sliding the barrel rearwards. According to the invention, the breech bolt is rotated to unlock it from the barrel by means of a sliding pin when this is pressed downwards by hand. In the form shown, the front part k of the breech bolt is rotated relatively to the rear part s, to disengage the interrupted threads w from the breech chamber, by a radial arm n, which, during the recoil of the gun, travels in a camgroove o, u in the casing a. At the end of the return stroke, the bolt head is rotated in the opposite direction by a spring disposed between the bolt and its head, which spring is tensioned during the opening movement. To unlock by hand, a sliding pin h is depressed and acts through a projection i upon the arm n which travels downwards in a vertical groove in the casing and rotates the locking-member k of the breech bolt; this bolt is then worked by hand.
