Abstract

16,381. Mauser, P. Sept. 19, 1912, [Convention date]. Breech actions, sliding breech-block; breech actions, sliding barrel and breech-block.-Relates to automatic guns having a detent which, when the magazine is removed, locks the breechslide in the open position, either directly, or through the ejector as described in Specification 2917/08, the detent being released by the insertion of a fresh magazine. The invention consists (1) in adapting this detent also to lock the sear, and (2) in providing the breech-slide with a second recess so that the detent can operate when the breech is closed. The detent k, shown separately in Figs. 5 and 6, the rear nose of which is adapted to engage either the recess h<1>, Fig. 7, or the recess h<2> in the breechslide and the front nose k<3> of which forms the ejector, is formed with a shoulder c adapted when on the removal of the magazine, the detent is rotated by its spring f, to engage under a shoulder on the pivoted sear a, as shown in Fig. 3.
