29,811. Bonfort, A. B. von. Dec. 28, 1911, [Convention date]. Variable-speed gearing.-Toothed wheels a, b are mounted in the same plane with a space between so that they turn clear of one another. They are adapted to be connected so as to transmit power by forcing between them a disk, belt, or the like of yielding material, preferably leather. In Fig. 2 there is shown a variable-speed gear suitable for motor-vehicles and machine tools. Pairs of gears a, band c, d are adapted to be brought into action alternatively by forcing between them rotary disks g, g<1>, which are drawn forward by cams k, l on an operating-shaft m. The disks g, g<1> preferably increase in thickness towards their centres.
