Abstract

20,926. Haddan, R., [Southgate Machinery Co.]. Sept. 21. Cylinder and like machines; rotary machines; tripping-arrangements. - In a multi-revolution multi-colour cylinder machine, of the kind described in Specification 28,302/08, having a printing-cylinder 6 to engage with the impression cylinder 4, which engages with the bed 1, the tripping movement of the impression cylinder is inclined so that the cylinder 4 is moved simultaneously from the bed 1 and the cylinder 6. The cylinder 6, which may be of any desired size relative to the cylinder 4, has its axis about on a level with that of the cylinder 4, and the bearings of the cylinder 4 slide at an angle of about 45 degrees to the vertical, but preferably slightly less, so that the movement towards the surface of the flat bed 1 is greater than that towards the cylinder 6, to equalize the impression pressures. The machine may be run as a simple rotary machine by disconnecting the coupling 11 to the bed-driving gear and speeding up the cylinders 4, 6.
