Tripping-arrangements.-The plate cylinders of a multicolour press, such as that described in Specification 17,687 / 11, are fitted with means for adjusting vertically the positions of each cylinder relatively to the impression cylinder, adjustable wedge members being employed for limiting the inward movement of each bearing. The shafts 4 of each plate cylinder are mounted in bearings 144 capable of sliding vertically in boxes which are fitted with springs 147 tending to raise the cylinders. The cylinders are normally kept in the required position relatively to the impression cylinder by the engagement of the bearings 144 with wedges 148 adjustably connected by screws 149 to the boxes in which the bearings are mounted. The cylinders are moved into and out of printing position by screws 154 which act on bearing-plates 156 on the bearings 144, and are rotated by worm gearing actuated by hand-crank 157. The screw 154 engages a threaded surface on a fixed cap 155, and the gear that rotates it is splined to its shaft to permit of the movement of the screw.
