13,077. Numford, A. G., and Boothroyd, A. W. May 31. Vaporizers, external.-An annular vaporizing- chamber c is formed between two cylinders, the inner one a of which is adapted to be heated at starting by a blow lamp and the outer one b permanently after starting by exhaust gases. A pipe d connects the vaporizer at one end to an air inlet and to the fuel supply which may terminate in an ordinary spraying-nozzle, while another pipe e leads to the induction pipe f of the engine between a supplementary air valve h and the mixture throttle x. The vaporizer may be water-jacketed, in which case the exhaust gases are made to impinge on the external wall of the vaporizing-chamber before coming into contact with the cooled surface. Radial fins a<1> act as heat-conductors and as distance-pieces, and also for cleaning purposes when the cylinder a is loosened and rotated in the cylinder b. In a modification there are internal ribs to the cylinder a.
