Abstract

29,663. Dawson, Sir A. T., and Buckham, G. T. Dec. 21. Breech actions, sliding barrel and breech - block.- Relates to grip safety-devices for recoil-operated guns, and consists, mainly, in arranging the grip safety-lever A, A<1> to engage directly with the breech-bolt for the purpose of retaining it in the rear position when the magazine is being re-charged. The lever engages the retracted breechbolt by means of an upward projection a<1> at the front. When the parts are in the forward position, this projection normally engages a slot in the barrel extension, thus preventing movement of the barrel. The lever may have also projections which normally lock the sear and the trigger. The safety is shown combined with the trigger mechanism described in Specification 29,658/10.
