Abstract

Mineral oils and tars, distilling ; separate heater and evaporator apparatus.-In distilling benzol &c. from oils that have been used for washing coal-gas, two oil-heaters b provided with steam-coils are used to bring the oils to the requisite temperature before they enter the column still d, and the distillation is effected by means of free steam only. By thus arranging the steam-coils in duplicate outside the still and providing suitable cocks e, the continuity of action may be preserved while the steam-coils are under repair.
