Abstract

195,465. Tinker, F. Jan. 7, 1922. Hydrocarbons, cracking. - In producing petrol from heavy hydrocarbon oils such as crude mineral oils, tar oils, fuel oils, kerosene, &c. the oil is passed through an apparatus comprising the elements of an ordinary topping-plant, viz. a preliminary heater e, a pipe still a, a vapourseparating drum b, a fractionating column c and a condenser d, and the condensate from the column c is passed into a still g, the vapours from which are passed through a superheater h and are delivered to the fractionating column c or other part of the system, for example, to the separating drum b. The unvolatilized residue from the drum b is passed through the preliminary heater e. In place of the pipe still a and drum b, an ordinary oil still may be used. Specification 188,058 is referred to.
