257,151. Bube, K. Dec. 22, 1925, Tar.-Tar is purified from creosote by treatment at temperatures over 50‹ C. with mixtures of alcohol and water containing more water than alcohol. A lignite tar oil containing 4 per cent creosote is heated at 83‹ C. with a mixture of 75 parts water and 25 parts alcohol.
