203,588. Vermeire, I. F. Oct. 10, 1922, [Conventaon date]. Wood, treating with liquids.-Oil of creosote, to be used for impregnating wood at atmospheric pressure, is agitated with small quantities of phenols, with or without coal tar, light tar oil, and benzol. The mixture is allowed to settle, and is decanted and filtered, preferably through broken coke. In an example, 70 parts of creosote are agitated for two hours with 6 parts of commercial (32 per cent) carbolic acid, 9.5 parts of coal-tar, 8 parts of light tar oil, and 6.5 parts of benzol. In use the preparation may be heated up to 100‹ C.
