Process for the complete gasification of bituminous fuels in generators with
Alternating operation.

The parent patent no. 107421 relates to a process for the complete gasification of bituminous fuels in generators with alternating operation, in which the mixture of water gas, steam and distillation gas resulting from the gassing is passed through heat accumulators after separation of the primary tar
 EMI1.1
column is introduced. Copious amounts of cryogenic tar are obtained by this process, which in many cases is undesirable.

In a further development of the process according to the parent patent, it has now been found that the low-temperature tar resulting from the distillation can be used directly to carburize the gas by circulating the mixture of water gas, steam, distillation gas and tar vapors through the heat accumulator, which is heated with the generator gas containing carbon becomes. While according to the original method, the tar is separated from the mixture in a tar separator and in a receiver, the vapors are sent with the other components of the mixture to the heat accumulator, where the tar vapors decompose so that the gas carburizes becomes.

In this way, the low-temperature tar decomposition is made possible in a simple and easily controllable manner without impairing the economically and technically most favorable management of the actual generator process, whereby in addition to increasing the gas yield and the gas calorific value, a tar like the usual hard coal gas tar is obtained.

A circulation of the gas generated during gas making via heat storage is also used in known methods without the tar being deposited beforehand. According to these known methods, however, the gas is passed through the glowing coke layer, a very extensive decomposition of the tar taking place, which is undesirable. In contrast, the tar decomposition in the process of the present invention takes place only in the heat accumulator, the temperature of which can be adjusted so that decomposition products of the highest calorific value arise.
