Atmospheric gas burners; burners, regulating. -The burner D of a gas-stove, cooker, &c., is provided with a by-pass a and hollow adjustable valve b, arranged in the mixing-tube B and nipple A, and operated to turn the gas full on when a vessel is placed upon the stove by means of a lever e, pivoted at e<2>, weighted at c<3>, and connected to the tube a by coiling this round a projection c<1> on the lever, or by other means. The vessel depresses a projecting part e<4> of the lever. In a modification, a solid rod is employed in place of the tube a, and the valve is provided with a slot b<1>, Fig. 3<A>, to permit a reduced supply of gas to the burner when a vessel is not on the stove.
