423,143. Gas burners. THORNTON, J. E., 8, Hill Street, Jersey, Channel Islands. April 4, 1934, No. 10148. [Classes 75 (i) and 75 (iii)] A gas stove or fire, more particularly of the kind described in Specification 405,382, 405,786, 408,731 or 416,474, is provided with a cock C adapted to supply gas in successive order to a pilot-jet D, a group of incandescent burners B and a group of heating burners or a single heating burner A having a row of nozzles A<1>, the pilot jet being rotated through gearing E, E<1> for igniting the burners. The handle C<2> of the cock carries a spring pawl c<2> which engages in notches c<3> in an index plate C<1>. The pilot jet is ignited outside the stove casing and extinguished when all the burners have been ignited. In modifications, an additional pinion is introduced between the pinions E, E<1> to reverse the direction of movement of the handle C<2> whilst maintaining the same direction of movement of the pilot jet, or the handle C<2> operates the pinion E through a pivoted quadrant and links or gearing.
