6872. Rose, W. H. March 18. Lifting -dogs. - Gripping-apparatus of the type consisting of a pair of pivoted crossed levers A, each provided at one end with jaws C and suspended at the other end by links D, is so arranged that a space is left between the upper ends of the links D for the insertion of the eye of the suspension rod E, and is also provided with means for forcibly separating the jaws. For the latter purpose, an arm F adapted to be lifted is provided, or the adjacent ends of a lever A and its corresponding link D are extended beyond their pivot G, so as to be grasped by the hand.
