Rivet-extractors.-In a chain-rivet extractor the jaws that grip the chain link are connected to the block carrying the extracting-plunger by togglelinks arranged so that the plunger acts through the links to force the jaws together. The jaws C<2>, Fig. 1. are rounded to engage a link roller, and are connected by one or more pairs of togglelinks D to a block B through which an extracting- plunger A is threaded. Holders C<4> with handgrips C<5> may be provided. Other forms are described constructed so as to prevent the plunger from tilting relatively to the jaws. In one form the parts are curved to engage rounded ends of the block B, springs are provided acting against the toggle-links, and the handles are similar to scissor handles. In another, Fig. 4, the jaws C connected by the links D to the block B are pivoted to the ends of a guide E through which the block slides. In a modification of this form the guide E slides on the plunger and a closing spring is inserted between the guide E and the top of the plunger. The jaws C may also be pivoted about their centres to a lateral handle and connected by inverted toggle-links to the block B, and a closing-spring inserted between the handle and the block. Fig. 7 shows the jaws C mounted. on a U-shaped bar G so as to have parallel motion, and the block B provided with projections B<5> between which end parts of the jaws C springs are inserted.
