708,981. Dewing. ZIJL, A. M. March 17, 1952 [March 21, 1951, No. 6867/52. Class 83 (4). [Also in Group XXX] Wire drawing grippers comprise jaws connected to a linkage including lazy tongs. The gripping jaws 2 are connected to pivoted levers 3 by lazy tongs 12 ; such a gripper may have several lazy tong links. The grippers are operated by a force applied at the pivot 4. The gripping jaws may instead of being pivoted at the centre be pivoted to a transverse bar. The jaws may grip at an angle to the horizontal or at right angles to the horizontal. The linkages may be combined side by side either over the whole or part of the length, the links being integral or otherwise or the links may be connected by transverse connections.
