Abstract

Magneto - electric machines. - The field magnets of ignition magnetos are bowed to conform as pole-pieces with the surface of the armature, and are retained in a speciallyshaped casing by bent-over ears. The magnets a, bent to the shape shown in Fig. 1, are formed at band c to fit the casing d, which is constructed, preferably of non-magnetic material, with end plates e, at least one of which has an opening large enough to admit the armature. After the magnets are inserted from above, ears h, primarily in line with the end plates, are bent over to retain them. Projections i supplement the fitting- surfaces at b. The ears may be internal, and fit in recesses k, Fig. 4. If more than two magnets are employed, a casing is used having a rib, provided with ears, between each pair or less number. The Specification in the original form, as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a), describes also a method of fixing the magnets to the casing by means of set-screws ; this subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
