Armatures; field magnets; magneto-electric machines.-In a magneto machine specially applicable for ignition in internal-combustion engines, the armature core D carries two diametrically opposite pole-pieces d at one side of the winding e, and two diametrically opposite pole-pieces d<1> at right-angles to the first pair, at the other side of the winding e. The field magnet has two long straight pole-pieces N, S, ninety degrees apart at their centres. The winding e is carried on a stationary support c<1>, only the core rotating.
