Abstract

In an inductor-alternator magneto, for use in connexion with internal-combustion motors, the inductorrotor consists of a non-magnetic carrier B, provided with two horned-ring inductors U, E, D, F, each with a single inwardly-projecting horn E, F, the two horns being set at an angle of 180 degrees to each other.. The ring parts C, D are embraced by the pole pieces G, H of the field magnets J, the axes of the pole faces being parallel with that of the rotor shaft A. The horns convey alternate magnetic flux to the poles N, 0 of an armature L, M, the axes of the pole-faces of which are at rightangles, or substantially so, to the axes of the rotor and field poles G, H, and are in the horizontal plane of the axis of rotation of the inductor. A frame R supports the magnets J, which may be electromagnets, if desired the laminated armature core L, which may be of the double magnetic circuit "Manchester" type, and carries the shaft-bearings.
