Abstract
705,187. Machines with permanent magnets. TELEPHONE MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. April 16, 1952 [May 2, 1951], No. 10306/51. Class 35 A tone generator has a permanent magnet rotor 11 and a stator 10 having a pair of opposed pole-faces each of which is provided with a recess 10c. The arcuate length b of each recess 10c is aproximately equal to the arcuate distance t between the adjacent pole tips, this lengh l being also equal to one-third the length of one stator pole face. The recess depth g is at least twice the distance ag between rotor and the unrecessed portion of the stator pole-face. The arrangement and dimensions of the recesses in relation to the pole-faces'and rotor are such that the required driving torque throughout rotor revolution is more uniform than it would be without the recesses.
