Magneto.electric machines. - The rotating magnet of a magneto of the stationary armature type has two or more magnets arranged eccentrically to the rotor axis with like poles at the two rotor ends magnetically connected to end pieces which have one or more pole-pieces disposed along the rotor surface parallel to axis of revolution and concentric to the stationary armature pole faces the arrangements being such that the pole shoes are in the spaces between and are located alongside the magnets which are situated nearly on the rotor surface. The magnets may be parallel or inclined to the axis of the rotor. In the form shown in Fig. 1 and in section, Fig. 2, on the line 2-2 thereof, four circular magnets a are parallel to the axis of the shaft b. They are connected by fork-shaped end pieces c each having inwardly-directed tongue-shaped polepieces d, d<1> concentric with the armature poles f. The pole-pieces are connected through a portion of their length by a cylindrical web, shown in dotted lines at g, which enclose the ends of the magnets a and provide a leakage path between the poles of similar size and thus tend to prevent demagnetization. In the rotary magnet shown in Fig. 4 and developed in Fig. 6, the magnets a are inclined to the end pieces c so as to give an increased section at h and i where the pole-pieces d, d<1> and magnets respectively join the end pieces. The magnets may be of any cross-sectional shape or they may be made of V- shaped plates, Fig. 7, bent to a, circular contour. In all forms, the pole-pieces may be integral with the end-pieces, as shown, or they may bo separately formed of laminae and secured to the end pieces by riveting or the like.
