Abstract
20,266. Viney, H. Sept. 12. Clutches.-The two parts of a differential countershaft of a motor-vehicle are locked to each other by means of a clutch which is engaged by a spring and disengaged by a hand-wheel and screw. The sleeve c connected to one element of the differential gear is provided with recesses a, which are adapted to be engaged by corresponding projections on a sleeve d, which slides on a squared portion of the shaft e connected to the other element of the differential gear. The clutch is pressed into engagement by a spring g, and is released by a hand-wheel f<2> having a sleeve portion f engaging a screw e<1> on the end of the shaft e. Accidental movement is prevented by a spring catch h with handle h<2>.
