Abstract

25,738. O'Donnell, J. P., [Fabrique Nationale d'Armes de Guerre-Soc. Anon.]. Nov. 8. Controlling-apparatus, arrangements of hand and foot gear in conjunction with; interlocking and guarding against wrong movements.-The change-speed operating-lever is interlocked with the lever for operating the engine clutch so that the gear cannot be changed unless the clutch is disconnected. The clutch-operating lever 6 is pivoted to the change-speed lever at 5, and carries a pin which normally engages a fixed notched quadrant. The change-speed lever cannot be operated until the pin is released by forcing the handle 6 inwards against the pressure of the spring 22. The latter operation disconnects the clutch by rocking a sleeve and thereby causing it to move axially along a fixed screwed sleeve 19.
