Abstract

23,360. Lloyd, W. J., and Priest, W. Oct. 22. Variable-speed and reversing gearing.-Relates to interlocking control of change-speed and reversing gearing for motor-cars &c., particularly to that described in Specification No. 22,817, A.D. 1905. The hand-lever c is mounted on a tubular shaft a, which is connected by arms e, e<2> and flat springs f to the change-speed operating-shaft a<2>. The ends of the shafts a, a<2> have interlocking ends d, d<2>, Fig. 2, which permit the lever to be moved through one division of the quadrant g in either direction while the shaft a' is locked. If the lever c has been thus moved, on unlocking the shaft a' by depressing the foot-lever b, the flexure of the springs f automatically turns the sleeve a<2> and changes the speed ratio, as described in the above Specification.
