2918. Hare, C. E. Feb. 6. Clutches.-In friction clutches for motor-vehicles &c., a small cone A, loose on the shaft D, is connected by a spring portion C to a larger cone B, slidably secured to the shaft. The cone A first engages the outer cone part and is turned, tightening the spring C and sliding the cone B along the shaft into engagement, thus assisting the action of the clutch lever.
