Tyres, elastic other than pneumatic; felloes or rims. -A tyre for a vehicle wheel is formed by an endless spring metal strip or band a, Fig. 3, which may be combined with a rubber tread b, or itself form the tread, as shown in Fig. 7. Two or more such metal bands may be used, or a number of wires a, Fig. 6, may be used instead of the band, and the band or wires may be embedded in the rubber. The tyre is attached to the rim c, Fig. 3, by means of extensions d of the rubber cover b, or, in the arrangement shown in Fig. 7, by strips d of leather, fabric, or the like. The strips d are in each case kept in a state of tension by a number of segmental metal strips f which engage enlarged edges on the strips d and are pulled inwards by bolts g and nuts g<1>.
